Salamander (Northern Two-lined) Life Cycle

Females lay their eggs in the spring under rocks in flowing streams where fish cannot reach them to feed on them. After 30-60 days the larvae hatch out. For up to 3 years they will live in the water feeding and growing. Then they will make their way onto land to start their adult land (terrestrial) phase. They will return to the water to mate and lay eggs.
