Nuthatch (White-breasted)

Range

They are found in southern Canada, south to northern Florida and Mexico.

Habitat

They live in deciduous forests, parks and suburbs with large trees.

Body Traits

They are a small bird with a black cap and a gray-blue back and wings. They have a white face, breast and belly.

Habits

They are common at bird feeders all winter.

Diet

They creep down trees headfirst looking for insects, nuts and seeds.

Reproduction

They build their nest in tree holes, lining it with fur, grass, and bits of bark. Female lays 5-9 white eggs with reddish spots.
