Range

They breed from British Columbia east to Newfoundland and from the Canadian Rockies south to California and from eastern Minnesota to West Virginia. Winters south to U.S.-Mexico border.

Habitat

They are found in forests, gardens and at house feeders.

Body Traits

They have a rosy head, chest and rump.

Habits

They travel in flocks, sing loudly and feed at feeders all winter.

Diet

They eat seeds.

Reproduction

They build an open cup nest up in the trees and lay 3-5 eggs. It takes 2 weeks for the eggs to hatch.
