Birch (Paper)

Habitat

They are found in wet mountain forests and second growth forests (that have been cut down and are growing back).

Description

The bark is white and peeling with dark lines running around trunk. The leaves are 2 - 4 inches long, pointed, dull green with teeth. The flowers are catkins that grow to small cones. Stripping bark damages the trees. Collect from fallen logs only.
