They breed in British Columbia across Canada to Newfoundland, and south to Pennsylvania, North Dakota, Colorado, and Oregon and south in Appalachian and Rocky Mountains. They winter in South America.
They live in deciduous forests with lots of brush.
They are smaller than a robin, rusty-brown above, lighter below with rusty spotting on their breast. They have dark eyes.
